Nestled along the captivating Big Sur coastline, McWay Falls cascades gracefully into the ocean’s embrace—a pristine jewel within Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. I visited this breathtaking spot on one of my Big Sur trips, eager to immortalize its wonder through my lens. My photograph, “Hideaway,” captures the vibrant turquoise waters crashing against the golden sands, painting a scene that begged to be photographed. Navigating the narrow trail to find the perfect vantage point, I embraced the challenge, knowing it would be worth it.

As the view unfolded before me, it felt like stumbling upon a hidden oasis—a scene straight out of a cinematic journey, where a castaway might discover a secret bay on an uncharted island. The title “Hideaway” came naturally, embodying the sense of serenity and escape that this tranquil paradise offers—a place to find refuge from the chaos of the world.
