"Eye of the Beholder"
Lone Pine, CA
During my first visit to the Alabama Hills in Lone Pine, CA, I found myself captivated by the scenic beauty of the region. “Eye of the Beholder” was born from that experience. Situated on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada in the Owens Valley, the Alabama Hills are renowned for their dramatic rock formations and rugged terrain, which have served as the backdrop for countless Western movies. As I embarked on a driving tour, I marveled at the endless array of unique rock shapes, each telling its own story.
Among these formations, the iconic Moebius Arch stood out—a favorite among photographers, often used to frame the majestic Mt. Whitney. Eager to create something distinctive, I decided to frame another rock within the arch’s opening, offering a fresh perspective on a familiar landmark. This photograph embodies the idea that beauty truly lies in the eye of the beholder, inviting viewers to see nature’s art through their own unique lens.
