"End of Day"
Ventura, CA
My wife surprised me with a Jeep rental for my birthday, and we set off on a weekend road trip, embracing the unknown. By evening, we arrived in Ventura, California, just as the sky ignited with the warm hues of sunset. Little did I know, this journey would lead me to capturing “End of Day,” one of my favorite photographs.
As my wife and daughter walked ahead along the shore, my photographer’s instinct took over. The light was fading fast—I needed a compelling foreground before it disappeared. Scanning the beach, my pulse quickened until I spotted a cluster of rocks at the water’s edge. I rushed to position myself, waiting patiently as the waves rolled in, framing the perfect shot.
Later, as I reviewed my images, “End of Day” stood out. It wasn’t just a photograph; it was the culmination of a fleeting, perfect moment—a reminder of why I chase the light. A birthday adventure I would always remember, captured in a single frame.
