"Pit Stop"

Nelson, NV

The Nevada Desert stretches vast and unforgiving, where remnants of the past endure against time’s relentless march. In the Ghost Town of Nelson—just 45 minutes south of Las Vegas—stands a symbol of rugged perseverance: a red Dodge pickup truck, weathered yet proud, parked next to an old gas station. This place is a treasure trove for photographers, with every corner telling a story. Myself being drawn to old pickup trucks, I was elated when I saw this Red Dodge resting next to the old gas station. I thought this would be a great photograph and instantly knew I wanted to call it “Pit Stop.” This place is a photographer’s treat, so many things to photograph, but it was this truck that truly captured my attention—a resilient spirit against the desolate backdrop, its vivid color cutting through the muted desert tones.

As someone drawn to old pickup trucks, I couldn’t resist the magnetic pull to capture this scene. I knew instantly that this was more than just a photograph—it was a story waiting to be told. The truck seemed frozen in time, as if it had made one final Pit Stop and never left. Its faded red paint and worn-down tires spoke of countless journeys now left behind, yet its presence remained undeniably strong, grounded, and unwavering.
