"View From Under"
Pasadena, CA
Pasadena boasts numerous notable attractions, but one of its most captivating features undoubtedly lies in the exquisite architecture of the Colorado Street Bridge. My photograph, “A View From Under” gives a unique perspective from beneath this iconic structure, showcasing its intricate design in a way that sets it apart from the usual vantage point atop the bridge itself.
Framed perfectly beneath the bridge’s majestic arch is the former Vista del Arroyo Hotel, later transformed into the McCornack General Hospital and eventually repurposed as the Richard H. Chambers United States Court of Appeals courthouse.
This photograph was taken during a time when there was no park beneath the bridge, requiring a bit of ingenuity. To eliminate the encircling fence from the frame, I perched atop my car, ensuring an unobstructed view. With the added bonus of streaking clouds and the warm, late-afternoon sunlight casting its enchanting glow, all the elements aligned seamlessly to craft this captivating image.
